On Saturday, I resumed work on my project by starting a new print taken from a recent sketch of the newly built Stockport Exchange and also the refurbished exterior of the train station.
Proof print attached. I hope to produce some more etchings of this area in the near future for the project.
Here is my latest etching aquatint print of ‘Tiviot Dale Railway’ that I created yesterday from sketches and reference photos depicting the once active railway line and station. If you look closely, the print shows what has become of the area with a motorway and the new shopping development of Redrock. This print completes a set of three prints showing Stockport’s past.

Here are the results of my printmaking this weekend using double printed drypoints.
Today, I took part in some urban sketching organised by Annette from Stockport Art Guild
Artists met at the art gallery and we had 2 hours to sketch around Stockport either inside or out.
I chose to sketch at Stockport Exchange near the railway station and found a perfect place to sit outside the new hotel. The weather was cool and rainy, but I managed at couple of good sketches using fineliners and pencils.

Titled: ‘Window’ (6 colour Lino cut)
Today, I finally printed the last colour (Grey) on my hand burnished reduction lino cut.
The last colour outlines the brick work and brings the whole print together.
The other evening, I produced a small number of test drypoint prints using my own press. The results were good and I hope to develop them further.
These wood carving tools are especially useful for cutting large areas of lino. I have successfully used the flat ended chisel on my recent reductuon lino plate.
I bought the tools on eBay for less than £5.
